Exhibition “Grossglockner-Panorama”

At the end of the 7 km long Grossglockner High Alpine Road, a new permanent exhibition is situated

Since summer 2017, the High Tauern National Park in East Tyrol has got one more attraction. At the end of the alpine road, at the "Glocknerwinkel" area at 2,000 m a.s.l., a new national park information point as well as an interesting permanent exhibition can be found.

One of the main topics of the "Grossglockner-Panorama" exhibition is Mt Grossglockner. The 3,798 m high gigantic mountain, also called "King of the Eastern Alps" is the highest mountain of Austria. The second central theme is focused on the "Big Five" of the High Tauern National Park. And who are these "Big Five"?

They are the famous representatives of the fauna in the national park: the eagle with its wingspan of up to 230 cm, the bearded vulture, one of the biggest flying birds worldwide, the ibex with its impressive horns, the chamois, a climbing acrobat, and the nice marmot. The attractive offer of the exhibition "Grossglockner-Panorama" is topped off with a national park education trail and a viewing platform. Moreover numerous gorgeous hiking paths start from here into the alpine world of the Glockner and Schober Groups.
