Owl Park San Vigilio

In the Owl Park San Vigilio, falconer Mario lovingly cares for up to 110 owls and screech owls

In Val Badia, next to the "Ciamaor beach", there is an owl park: it is home to dozens of birds of prey. Five of the seven owl species registered in South Tyrol live in the wild in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. In this animal park, on the other hand, there are only specimens which originate from breeding and are native to Europe and accustomed to the local climate, or animals which need to be cared for.

Falconer Mario imparts knowledge to interested visitors during didactic tours, night walks and flight demonstrations and sensitises them to environmental protection. In addition, the centre carries out species protection and there is a collaboration with the universities of Padua and Parma on the subjects of veterinary medicine and biology.

The friendly owls and screech owls are already familiar to children from stories and fairy tales and can even be adopted. They are not easy to see in the wild, but in the Owl Park San Vigilio they can be observed from close up.
